As one of the sponsors, I have attended the Blockchain Economic Forum in Davos this year. This is my takeaway-focused summary on the event.
All in BLOCKCHAIN
It’s 2019, and as the say goes: new year, new us. That’s why I’m super excited to announce that KISSPatent is now accepting cryptocurrency as payment for all of our service packages. You can now protect your valuable ideas with a patent, using cryptocurrency payments!
In our e-book you will learn:
How big companies succeed in blockchain
How you should step into the blockchain startup race
How to create a blockchain patent
In this guide, we’ll walk you through why venture capital firms care about intellectual property protection (especially for blockchain startups), how copyright and trademarks can benefit both you and your investors, and how to plan for copyrighting or trademarking your blockchain idea.
If you keep up on what’s going on in technology and cryptocurrency in particular, you’ve heard a lot about blockchain. It’s the technology backbone for ownership and transfer of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. However, blockchain is about to explode into a game-changing technology across countless industries - far beyond the cryptocurrency applications.
One third of all US patent applications related to Bitcoin or the blockchain, that were ever published - were published in 2017. This represents a 20% increase from 2016.
Marketing 101: Product differentiation is better than no product differentiation, from the point of view of customers and investors. With the recent rise in cryptocurrency products, it can be hard to remember the different logos, names, and slogans of similar sounding products (Ethereum? Altcoin? Ripple? Litecoin?). In fact, it would be hard to even recall the logos of each without further prompting.
We’ve seen a fair number of start-ups begin to work on developing intellectual property surrounding Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as blockchain, and expect this number to increase as cryptocurrency becomes more mainstream (it’s hard to deny cryptocurrency’s jump into the mainstream—even our grandparents are wondering about cryptocurrency!)
You’re probably familiar enough with the term “copyright” to know that it’s a type of legal protection. However, copyright has moved beyond its traditional implications, and will arguably be a significant gamechanger for startups working in cryptocurrency in 2018.
Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies could upend the Internet as we know it. Big tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Microsoft may find themselves out-competed by nimble startups, who are taking advantage of blockchain technology to blow up the tech market.
In our latest Question of the Week video, we discussed the differences between publishing and patenting your idea. This time, we will give you an in-depth view into the bitcoin industry in terms of patents.
